### How does investing with different currencies work?

Building a global portfolio is important, and we want to make it as easy as possible to do that. 

Lightyear's multi-currency investment accounts mean you can invest and hold money in USD, GBP and EUR. So whether you're investing in local stocks or US giants, we've got you covered. This way, you don't have to be constantly converting your money between currencies - which is subject to FX fees.

### Can I move stocks over from another provider?

If your current broker supports transfers out, we can help you do it. There's a longer answer on our [help centre](/help/trading-and-investments/stock-transfer) with the links and a step-by-step process. But in short, we can help you transfer whole shares (above a value of $/£/€ 1000) over to Lightyear.

### How are my assets protected?

Trusting us with your investments is not something we take for granted. Lightyear Europe AS is a licensed investment firm and as such is bound by strict regulatory obligations in how we handle and protect your assets. We do this via a process known as safeguarding. All Lightyear customers have their assets covered up to the amount of 20,000 EUR by the Estonian Investor Protection Sectoral Fund. Read more about this fund [here](https://www.tf.ee/eng/protection-of-investors/#level_of_comp). This protection covers all accounts regardless of the owner’s residency country.

### Can I request new stocks?

Absolutely! If there's a stock or a fund you want that we don't yet have, there's a very quick way to request it in-app. Simply write the name of the instrument you're looking for in the search bar, and then hit request. Our team goes through all requests periodically and when possible, we make these instruments available.
