Big listings often come with a lot of noise. We’ll keep it simple: the numbers, the timeline, and a notification when it’s live.

## What is an IPO and how does it work?

An IPO (initial public offering) is when a private company first sells shares that anyone can buy on a stock exchange. It happens in four steps:

1. **Filing to go public.** Anthropic did this on 26 October 2026.
2. **Price range announced.** This is a rough guide to what price the shares will be offered at.
3. **Final price set.** This usually happens the night before trading starts.
4. **First day of trading.** This is when you can buy the stock on public markets.
