### How is an affiliate program different from "refer a friend" program?

The main difference is that personal referral codes cannot be advertised publicly and are only meant for sharing with people you know. 

However, affiliate codes can be shared openly with anyone. And every time your efforts bring in a new customer, you’ll earn a commission (subject to local regulations).
