The third album from Beatle Jazz is consistent with the group’s two prior releases in concept and vision, presenting inventive jazz arrangements of the most beloved music of the 20th Century.
But this time the trio has enlisted a little help from their friends, who happen to be some of the biggest names in jazz, and whose stellar contributions help lift this CD to another level. John Scofield (guitar), Michael Brecker (saxophone), Randy Brecker (trumpet), and Mike Stern (guitar) all provide memorable guest performances.
The repertoire choices are outstanding. The results are totally refreshing, full of musical virtuosity, but remaining true to the essence of each song.
Expect jazz radio to embrace it, to a Top 10 level. Expect the critics to endorse it. Talk about “getting better all the time”. . . whew! Check this out!
