Earlier this year, we surveyed more than 2000 of our investors across Europe and found out that:
- 88% of you have financial goals
- 60% use passive investing to reach them
- over a third invest for short, medium and long term goals at once
And we know that different financial goals require different approaches – both in terms of the instruments invested into, but also the timeline and frequency. So, we realised we need to build something to help you with this, a product allowing you to invest into specific goals in a simple, automated way.
Introducing: Plans
Instead of managing your whole portfolio as one, you can now split investments into Plans – separating fun money from your retirement funds; and investments into your kids’ futures from your more risky, high growth ones.
For each Plan you can include a tailored set of stocks and funds, allocate custom weightings to each position and set a recurring payment through a standing order or your Lightyear cash balance.
Plans support placing money in the stock markets recurrently and over the long term, helping easily create a habit out of investing. If you’re a saver, Plans help turn your savings into a strategy; and if you already invest, you now have an automated, streamlined way to manage investing towards multiple goals at once.

Across Europe, chasing financial goals needs a boost
In a recent study of 14,000 Europeans, 86% of respondents say financial health is important to them. At the same time, 65% have long term financial goals – but only 15% of those with a goal actively pursue it.
The survey reports a lack of confidence in financial topics like investing and pensions. Less than a third of respondents said their knowledge of investing and pensions is low. This signals even further need for simple, intuitive and automated ways to grow wealth, without the hassle and headaches.
And this is exactly what we hope Plans brings you. A way to set money aside and grow it in a strategic, streamlined way in the background, leaving you free to focus on your everyday.
