Introducing free FX
Whenever you buy a stock or fund in a currency other than HUF, your money has to be converted first. For example, buying a US stock means converting HUF into USD and that usually comes with an FX fee.
Free FX means we waive that fee on a set amount of money. You convert as usual and keep more of your money invested.
How the referral bonus works
- You get 3 million HUF worth of free currency conversions for every friend who joins Lightyear.
- Each friend gets the same for 1 million HUF. They just need to open a new Lightyear account and deposit at least 35,000 HUF to their TBSZ.
- There’s no monthly limit, so you can invite as many friends as you’d like.
- Free FX applies to your TBSZ and business accounts.
The more friends you invite, the more you can convert for free.
How long the bonus lasts
Your free FX is valid for 90 days from your first successful invite. Every friend who joins after that adds 10 more days, so a steady stream of invites keeps your allowance going for longer.

Why TBSZ?
A TBSZ is a Hungarian long-term investment account with tax benefits. If you keep your investments in it for five years, you pay no tax on your gains. It’s built for people who invest for the long run, which is exactly who we’re building Lightyear for.
Free FX gives your TBSZ a boost at the start of TBSZ season, when many of you are opening new accounts and making new deposits.
Got a business account?
Business accounts can’t hold a TBSZ, so for business customers, free FX applies to your business account instead.
How to get started
- Open the Lightyear app and go to Invite friends.
- Share your invite link with a friend.
- Once they open their account and meet the eligibility criteria, you’ll both be credited free FX.
