Hungarian authorities require you to report any TBSZ account held with a foreign provider (such as Lightyear) each year. It’s important to declare your TBSZ to NAV within 30 days after starting to use the account, meaning after you’ve funded your TBSZ with at least 25,000 HUF or the equivalent in another currency. To help with this, after you’ve deposited, Lightyear sends you a declaration email with a certificate and the following steps.
What to remember
- The guide below is here to walk you through the process on the ONYA website. We aim to keep these instructions up to date, but if you experience technical issues or any changes within these steps, please contact the service provider directly.
- Lightyear isn’t notified when you’ve declared your TBSZ, therefore, we’ll send in-app reminders to complete your declaration during the 30-day window. For status updates or any edits you may need to do, please contact NAV directly.
How to report your TBSZ
The information on the websites referenced below is only available in Hungarian. If you’re using Chrome and need these pages in another language, click on the three vertical dots at the top right and select “Translate”. Some parts in the following steps are presented in Hungarian, as they appear on the original pages.
Step 1: Log in
Go to the ONYA website and log in by selecting “Bejelentkezés”.
Step 2: Choose your account
As you are declaring your personal taxes, select your private individual identity.
Step 3: Start a new form for your TBSZ
From the left-hand menu, pick “Új nyomtatvány” (+ symbol) to start creating a new form. Then select “Bejelentések” and “Egyéb bejelentések”. In this view, select TBSZ and click “Kiválaszt” to proceed.
Step 4: Fill out the details
Some of your personal information (tax number, name, mother’s name, birth date and location will be pre-filled. Start by reviewing your address, and then declare the name and phone number of the individual filling the form. Unless you authorised someone to do this for you, these will be your details.
Scroll to the next section and enter your first deposit amount (that you can get from your TBSZ Account Certificate that we've sent you), and then click “Mentés” to save the details.
Step 5: Attach document
⚠️ Very important: Before submitting your form, select “További funkciók” in the bottom right corner and then “Mellékletek” to upload your TBSZ Account Certificate. Once done, close this view by clicking “Bezár”.
Step 6: Review and send your form
Review to ensure all the information you’ve provided is correct and, if so, click “Mentés” at the bottom of the page to save your form. Then, click “Ellenörzés és benyújtás” and “Tovább” to complete reporting your TBSZ.
After submission, NAV will notify you if your tax return has been successfully received.
What happens if I don't declare on time?
