What options do I have to log in?
You can log in with your verified email or phone number and password, using our mobile or web app.
Biometrics (mobile only)
For extra security, you can enable Biometrics through Settings → Security. Depending on your device, this can be Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode.
QR code (web only)
If you’ve previously logged in to your account via web, the next time you log in we will recognise your account and show you a QR code to scan for access.
You can scan this QR code using your device’s camera app or the built-in camera in the Lightyear app which will take you to the app to confirm your login. To find the built-in camera in the Lightyear app, select your profile icon → Settings → Scan web QR code.
For extra security, if you want to confirm your login through the mobile app or SMS every time you access your account, make sure to log out when you're done and select "Not you?" on the login screen.
What two-factor authentication options do I have?
Authenticator app
As an additional layer of security, you can set up an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Apple Passwords, and others.
To enable this feature, you will need to:
- Select your profile icon (top left in the mobile app, top right in the web).
- Select Settings and then Security.
- Switch the toggle on under Authenticator App and Enter your password.
- Manually enter the code in your authenticator app, and select Continue.
- Enter the 6-digit code shown in the authenticator app to successfully set it up.
To disable this feature, you will need to:
- Select your profile icon (top left in the mobile app, top right in the web).
- Select Settings and then Security.
- Switch the toggle off under Authenticator App and enter the 6-digit code shown in the authenticator app to successfully remove it.
Text message
By default, you will receive a verification code via SMS to your registered phone number every time you try to log in. If you have a new phone number, you will need to email our Support team to update it first. See I want to change my details.
To enable or disable this feature, you will need to:
- Select your profile icon (top left in the mobile app, top right in the web).
- Select Settings and then Security.
- Switch the toggle on or off under SMS/Text message.
