Bulls say / Bears say

Canadian Natural forecasts a 12% increase in production to 1.510–1.555 million boepd supported by a C$6.15 billion capital program for 2025, underpinned by strong North American crude demand. (Reuters)
The company secured a 15-year agreement to supply 140,000 MMBtu per day of natural gas to Cheniere Energy, enhancing long-term revenue visibility in the growing LNG export market. (Reuters)
Operations at CNQ’s Jackfish 1 oil sands site resumed to a full run rate of 36,500 bpd within days of a wildfire shutdown, demonstrating strong operational resilience and quick recovery capabilities. (Reuters)
Severe wildfires in Alberta forced CNQ to halt approximately 36,500 bpd of production at its Jackfish 1 facility, contributing to industry-wide shutdowns that removed 7% of Canada’s total oil output. (Reuters)
The 2025 capital expenditure plan’s 13.5% rise to C$6.15 bn risks pressuring free cash flow and could constrain CNQ’s flexibility to fund dividends or further debt reduction. (Reuters)
The recently expanded Trans Mountain pipeline is operating at just 85% of capacity and faces tolling disputes, creating potential export bottlenecks that could limit CNQ’s ability to fully monetise its incremental production. (Reuters)
