Bulls say / Bears say

CTBI delivered record second-quarter earnings, with net income up 19% year on year to $29.6 million and diluted EPS up 19% to $1.64. Net interest income rose 12.7%, supported by a 16-basis-point year-on-year improvement in net interest margin. (Community Trust Bancorp)
The bank is growing its core franchise: loans increased 9.0% year on year to $5.1 billion, while deposits including repurchase agreements rose 9.1% to $6.0 billion. This gives CTBI a larger earning-asset base without relying on one dominant depositor. (Community Trust Bancorp)
Shareholder returns are strengthening alongside profits. The board raised the quarterly dividend 22.6% to $0.65 per share, added a one-off $0.06 payment, and extended the dividend-growth record to 46 consecutive years. (Morningstar)
Non-performing loans rose to $29.7 million at June 2026, up $9.0 million in the quarter, while loans more than 90 days past due reached $19.0 million. Charge-offs remain low and reserves cover 211.8% of non-performing loans, but the deterioration needs monitoring as the loan book expands. (Community Trust Bancorp)
Valuation leaves less room for disappointment: recent analysis put CTBI on about 13 times earnings and 1.58 times book value, above the wider US banks industry average on earnings. If profit growth or credit quality weakens, the premium multiple could contract. (Seeking Alpha)
Margin expansion may be slowing. Second-quarter net interest margin rose only one basis point from the previous quarter to 3.80%, while expense on interest-bearing liabilities increased 4.7% sequentially, leaving earnings exposed to higher deposit costs or softer loan yields.
