FB Financial is showing strong operating momentum: Q2 diluted EPS rose to $1.13, adjusted pre-tax pre-provision revenue increased 42.6% year on year, and loans and deposits grew 30.3% and 25.8% respectively. (Financial Times)
The bank has kept its net interest margin broadly stable despite changing rates. Q2 NIM was 3.95%, up from 3.68% a year earlier and slightly ahead of the previous quarter. (Financial Times)
Capital deployment could enhance shareholder returns if earnings hold up. FB Financial repurchased 3.01% of its outstanding shares in Q2, signalling management’s confidence in the franchise and reducing the share count. (Financial Times)
Asset quality is worsening and could raise future provisions. Non-performing loans increased to 1.17% of loans in Q2 from 0.96% in Q1 and 0.97% a year earlier, while the allowance for credit losses rose to $194.0 million. (Yahoo Finance)
Funding and loan pricing are becoming more competitive, which may squeeze margins. Loans grew at an 11.6% annualised rate in Q2 against 7.7% deposit growth, and management expects some margin pressure later in the year. (Longbridge)
The sharp year-on-year profit jump is partly flattered by an unusually weak comparison. Q2 2025 included a $60.5 million securities loss, so the latest headline growth may overstate the improvement in recurring earnings. (StockTitan)
