About Johnson Controls
Following Johnson Controls' divestiture of its residential and light commercial HVAC businesses to Bosch in 2025, nearly all of its revenue comes from commercial HVAC (60%) and fire and security products and services (40%). A 2016 merger joined Johnson Controls' HVAC and Tyco's fire and security businesses with the premise that there is synergy in offering a broader variety of automation products and solutions to commercial buildings. We estimate Johnson Controls' pro forma revenue mix will be one-third products, one-third installation, and one-third services.

Bulls say / Bears say
Johnson Controls delivered strong fiscal Q3 results, with sales up 9%, organic sales up 10%, orders up 27% organically and backlog up 32% to $21 billion. (SEC)
AI-driven data-center expansion is increasing demand for energy-efficient cooling and thermal-management systems, helping Johnson Controls raise its fiscal 2026 adjusted EPS outlook to approximately $5.05 from $4.85. (Reuters)
Operating leverage is becoming visible: Q3 Americas adjusted EBITA margin expanded 260 basis points to 21.1%, while management reiterated approximately 100% adjusted free-cash-flow conversion for fiscal 2026. (SEC)
Johnson Controls remains exposed to tariffs, component inflation, supply-chain disruptions and foreign-exchange volatility, which could pressure margins even after recent productivity gains. (SEC)
Demand is tied to commercial, institutional, industrial and data-center construction, retrofit activity and customer financing; a slowdown in capital spending or tighter credit could weaken orders and revenue. (SEC)
The $21 billion backlog is encouraging but its timing and conversion are uncertain, and the company cautions that backlog is not necessarily indicative of revenue earned in the coming fiscal year. Execution risk also remains around portfolio simplification and organizational transformation. (SEC)
