What the Analysts think about Quanex
Analyst ratings (Buy, Hold, Sell) for Quanex stock.
Bulls say / Bears say
Q3 net sales jumped 76.7% year-over-year to $495.3 million, driven by the Tyman acquisition and showing successful integration.
Gross margins improved to 29.0% in Q2 (up from 24.9% the prior year) and 27.9% in Q3 (up from 25.3% YoY), reflecting effective pricing and cost synergy realization.
The company has strengthened its balance sheet by paying off around $65 million in acquisition debt by Q1 and another $51.25 million in Q3, cutting net debt to LTM Adjusted EBITDA to 2.6x.
Organic demand remains weak, with core net sales declining 6.2% in Q1 and 1.4% in Q2 when excluding Tyman’s contribution, highlighting ongoing volume pressures in North American Fenestration.
Despite recent debt repayments, leverage remains elevated at a net debt/LTM Adjusted EBITDA ratio of 3.6x in Q1 and 3.2x in Q2, which may limit flexibility if cash flows weaken.
A $302.3 million non-cash goodwill impairment in Q3 resulted in a net loss of $276 million, pointing to possible overpayment and integration risks related to the Tyman acquisition.
