Bulls say / Bears say

Stellantis delivered its first quarterly increase in U.S. sales in two years, with a 6% gain year-on-year in Q3 2025, fueled by robust demand for Jeep, Chrysler, and Ram vehicles, indicating effective turnaround progress under the new CEO (Reuters).
Shipments in South America climbed 19% year-on-year in Q1 2025, showing resilience in its “Third Engine” markets and partially offsetting challenges in North America and Europe (Reuters).
The expansion of planned production at the Gqeberha, South Africa plant to include more than pickups—such as the launch of the Leapmotor C10 electric SUV—demonstrates strategic geographic expansion and product diversification in a fast-growing market (Reuters).
Stellantis posted a €2.3 billion net loss and an extremely slim 0.7% adjusted operating income margin in the first half of 2025, and it forecasts a further €1.2 billion impact from U.S. tariffs, highlighting intense pressure on profitability (FT).
European markets remain severely depressed, with vehicle registrations down 7.4% through August and Fiat sales plunging by 20%, forcing temporary shutdowns at six plants to manage excess inventory (FT).
The sudden resignation of CFO Doug Ostermann after just one year in the position signals instability in senior management that could hinder the company’s turnaround efforts (FT).
