Conditions have been met for TotalEnergies to resume its $20 billion Mozambique LNG project, with force majeure expected to be lifted and operations to start in 2029, targeting rising demand and narrowing the gap with Shell. (Reuters)
Selling a 50% stake in a 270 MW French wind and solar portfolio to Eiffel Investment Group for $155 million supports TotalEnergies’ plan to boost renewables capacity from 26 GW to 100 GW by 2030, balancing acquisitions with asset sales. (Reuters)
Divesting mature Norwegian oil fields to Vår Energi will bring in about $3.5 billion, helping to cut debt, redirect capital toward higher-return assets, and secure a position in the Ekofisk redevelopment. (Reuters)
First-quarter adjusted net profit fell 18% year-on-year to $4.2 billion and net debt jumped 42% to $20.1 billion, with free cash flow of $2.5 billion not enough to cover both dividends and buybacks, raising concerns about financial flexibility. (Reuters)
The plan to sell all renewable power assets outside the US, Brazil, and Europe could limit TotalEnergies’ diversification and exposure to fast-growing emerging markets, potentially restricting future renewable growth. (Reuters)
Cutting annual capital expenditure by $1 billion as part of a $7.5 billion cost-savings program may restrict funding for upstream and renewable growth initiatives, putting long-term capacity targets at risk. (Reuters)
