About Vodafone
Vodafone operates mobile and fixed-line networks and businesses across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Its largest market is Germany, where it is the second mobile operator after Deutsche Telekom and owns two cable networks after acquiring Kabel Deutschland in 2013 and Liberty Global Germany in 2019. In the UK, Vodafone merged with CK Hutchison in 2024, consolidating the mobile market. It also divested its Spanish and Italian divisions in that same year, given their low returns on invested capital.

Bulls say / Bears say
Vodafone delivered broad-based momentum in Q1 FY27, with organic service revenue up 5.2% and adjusted EBITDAaL up 6.2%; management expects to reach the upper end of its updated FY27 guidance. (Vodafone Q1 FY27 Trading Update)
The UK combination is beginning to show operating benefits: Vodafone reports improving customer loyalty, a 1.0-percentage-point reduction in Three UK consumer contract churn, accelerating fixed-line growth, and synergies on track. (Vodafone Q1 FY27 Trading Update)
Africa provides a meaningful growth engine and diversification: Q1 service revenue grew double digits in several markets, M-Pesa revenue increased 23.6%, and the Safaricom transaction closed on June 30, 2026. (Vodafone Q1 FY27 Trading Update)
Germany remains a key execution risk: although Q1 FY27 service revenue returned to 1.2% growth, mobile contract additions were hurt by market intensity, retail competition remained elevated, and the broadband base declined. (Vodafone Q1 FY27 Trading Update)
The full buyout of VodafoneThree increases strategic control but requires £4.3 billion (€4.9 billion) of cash, while Vodafone expects FY27 restructuring and integration costs of about €0.7 billion, including €0.4 billion for the UK merger. (Vodafone)
Reported earnings remain weak relative to operating metrics: FY26 attributable loss was €397 million, basic loss per share was 1.65 eurocents for the total group, and net debt rose to €25.4 billion. (Vodafone 2026 Annual Report)
