Westamerica continues to generate solid profitability with stable credit: Q2 2026 net income was $27.4 million, diluted EPS was $1.17, return on common equity was 11.3%, and nonperforming assets were only $808 thousand. (Westamerica)
The deposit franchise provides a strong funding advantage: noninterest-bearing deposits represented 46% of average deposits, checking and savings accounted for 99% of average deposits, and annualized funding costs were just 0.24% in the first half of 2026. (SEC)
Capital returns are substantial and potentially accretive: Westamerica repurchased approximately 2 million shares for $93 million in the first half of 2026, paid $0.94 per share in dividends, and expanded its repurchase authorization to 2.785 million shares. (Westamerica)
Net interest income remains under pressure: Q2 2026 FTE net interest income fell to $52.7 million from $54.6 million a year earlier, while net interest margin declined to 3.77% from 3.85%; six-month net income was down $5.4 million year over year. (SEC)
The loan portfolio is shrinking, limiting core earning-asset growth: period-end loans were $668.8 million at June 30, 2026 versus $748.3 million a year earlier, and average loans declined to $682.9 million from $762.2 million. (SEC)
Westamerica has meaningful interest-rate and liquidity sensitivity: its securities portfolio carried $185.2 million of gross unrealized losses at June 30, 2026, while estimated uninsured deposits totaled $2.37 billion, creating potential pressure if rates rise or deposit confidence weakens. (SEC)
