Bulls say / Bears say
Skouries has produced its first copper-gold concentrate and is connected to Greece’s power grid, reducing key start-up hurdles. The planned 20-year mine is expected to add about 140,000 ounces of gold and 67 million pounds of copper a year. (SEC)
McIlvenna Bay adds a new source of copper, zinc, gold and silver to Eldorado’s portfolio. It produced its first copper concentrate in Q2 and first zinc concentrate in July, with commercial production then targeted for Q3. (Eldorado Gold)
The existing mines remain cash-generative: Q2 free cash flow was $40.9 million excluding Skouries and McIlvenna Bay, alongside $136.7 million of adjusted net earnings. That gives Eldorado an operating base to support its growth projects. (Eldorado Gold)
Q2 gold production fell to 104,616 ounces from 133,769 a year earlier, while all-in sustaining costs rose to $1,926 an ounce from $1,520. Lower volumes and higher costs leave the operating mines more exposed if strong gold prices fade. (Eldorado Gold)
Q2 free cash flow was negative $334.1 million and debt reached $1.75 billion, while cash fell to $554.6 million. The large development spend is pressuring the balance sheet before the new projects deliver full operating cash flow. (Eldorado Gold)
Skouries is not yet at steady operation: as of 26 October, only two of its six tailings filter presses were operational and the plant was still increasing throughput. A slower ramp-up could postpone the cash-flow gains expected from the project. (StockTitan)
