What the Analysts think about HCI
Analyst ratings (Buy, Hold, Sell) for HCI stock.
Bulls say / Bears say
HCI secured over $3.5 billion in excess-of-loss catastrophe reinsurance for the 2025-2026 treaty year from reinsurers rated ‘A-’ or better by AM Best, strengthening its capital protection against major events (Reuters).
Exzeo Group, HCI’s technology subsidiary, reported net income of $39.6 million and revenue of $108.5 million for the first half of 2025—up from $18.2 million and $60.3 million a year ago—pointing to robust growth ahead of its planned IPO (Reuters).
HCI has publicly committed to spinning off its insurance technology arm Exzeo as a standalone company through a tax-free distribution to shareholders, a strategic step to unlock value and refocus on core insurance operations (Reuters).
Net reinsurance premiums ceded climbed to around $422 million for the 2025-2026 treaty year, up from approximately $333.6 million in the previous period. This could put pressure on underwriting margins (Reuters).
HCI’s estimated maximum retained loss of about $117 million for a single catastrophe event leaves significant capital exposed to severe claims before reinsurance coverage starts (Reuters).
With primary operations in Florida, HCI’s underwriting remains heavily concentrated in a region prone to catastrophes, making results especially vulnerable to hurricanes and changes in state regulations (Reuters).
