Bulls say / Bears say

Commercial diversification is gaining traction: Q2 commercial same-branch installation sales increased 10.4%, while commercial revenue represented 18% of Installation revenue versus 16% a year earlier. (SEC)
Acquisition-led expansion remains a meaningful growth lever: IBP added approximately $59 million of acquired annual revenue year to date and said it continues to expect at least $100 million of acquired revenue in 2026. (SEC)
Shareholder returns and balance-sheet flexibility are supportive: IBP repurchased approximately $76.2 million of stock in Q2, retained $398 million of repurchase authorization, and raised its quarterly dividend by more than 5% year over year. (SEC)
Residential demand remains weak: Q2 2026 residential same-branch sales fell 6.1%, while installation job volume declined 5.2% year over year, pressuring IBP’s core market. (SEC)
Profitability deteriorated despite revenue growth: Q2 gross margin declined to 33.3% from 34.2%, adjusted EBITDA fell 2.3% to $130.9 million, and adjusted EBITDA margin compressed to 16.9%. (SEC)
IBP remains highly exposed to housing affordability and financing conditions: 91% of Q2 revenue came from installation services, and the company identifies interest rates, mortgage availability, housing inventory and affordability as key demand drivers. (SEC)
