Lightyear Accessibility Statement

Version 2 – updated July 2026

We want everyone to be able to use Lightyear, including people with disabilities. So we work to meet the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882), local laws, and accessibility standards. These rules help make sure people with many different abilities can use digital financial services.

Compliance Status

We work to meet two standards: EN 301 549 v3.2.1 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Right now, our website, web app, and mobile app are partially compliant with these standards. The mobile app meets most screen-reader needs across its main journeys. You can read more about this below. Work on the web app continues. We have not yet had an outside WCAG 2.1 Level AA audit. Until we do, we describe our services as partially compliant overall.

Our approach to accessibility

We help people with disabilities use our services. Here is how:

  • We share information in several ways: our website, web app, mobile app, and customer messages.
  • We present information in a clear way that users can take in.
  • We offer text that works with tools like screen readers.
  • The mobile app has full screen-reader support (VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android) across its main journeys. This covers clear names and labels, a proper heading order, focus control, and spoken alerts for confirmations and errors.
  • We respect motion-reduction settings, such as "Reduce Motion" on iOS and "Remove animations" on Android.
  • We support larger text and text scaling from the device, where the device allows it, without breaking the layout.
  • We design screens with strong colour contrast, readable fonts, and text that can scale where the device allows.
  • We add alternative text for non-text content where it fits.
  • We design our services to be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. These are the four main accessibility principles.

Accessible services

We offer our investment services through three digital platforms:

  • The Lightyear mobile app
  • The Lightyear web app
  • The Lightyear website

These services work with the accessibility features built into your device. This includes screen readers, text scaling, and system settings on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.

The mobile app supports screen readers (VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android) across its main journeys. These journeys include:

  • Signing in and onboarding, for personal and business accounts
  • Portfolio and account views
  • Instrument pages
  • All order types, with their previews and confirmations
  • Deposits and withdrawals
  • Transfers
  • Currency conversion
  • Savings
  • Activity and tax reporting
  • The Help Centre
  • Settings and security screens

The mobile app also respects motion-reduction settings. It supports some text scaling from the operating system.

The web app offers accessible form controls, clear data tables, and easy navigation and search. It also shows keyboard focus and supports reduced motion. More improvements are on the way.

The mobile app has a colour-blindness mode. This helps users with common types of colour vision deficiency and improves contrast across the screen.

Known Limitations and Ongoing Improvements

We aim for our services to work for everyone. We know they still have some limits. We are working to fix these areas. The mobile app offers screen-reader support, motion reduction, and text scaling across its main journeys. These areas still need work:

  • Product Information Gaps: Our product guides do not yet explain which assistive tools we support. They also do not explain our accessibility features or how to use them.
  • Voice Control and Voiceover Support: The mobile app has full screen-reader support (VoiceOver and TalkBack) across its main journeys. We do not have built-in voice control. But our services work with the voice-control tools on your device.
  • Alternate Text for Images: Most non-text content in the mobile app has alternative text. We can still do better. Images in the web app, social media and email do not always have good alternative text yet.
  • Colour Contrast on Landing Pages: We handle colour contrast well inside the logged-in mobile and web apps. Some parts of our logged-out pages, such as website landing pages, may not meet the WCAG AA contrast rules. Logged-out users also cannot adjust the colour contrast.
  • Feature Parity: Some information on our website is not on the mobile app. Some information on the app is not on the website. We are working to close this gap.
  • Plain Language: We review our content to keep it clear and simple. But we do not yet get an outside check against best practice for people with limits in thinking, language, or learning.

Feedback and support

Do you have an accessibility problem or an idea to make our services better? Please contact us through our Help Centre or at support@lightyear.com. We aim to review your feedback and make improvements where we can.

We prepared this statement from a self-assessment. As the law allows, we are improving our services step by step to meet all updated accessibility rules within the legal time frame. We checked the mobile accessibility features described above through our own on-device screen-reader testing.
