The investment objective of the Fund is to track as closely as possible the returns of the MSCI World Islamic Universal Screened Select Index, while integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) metrics. The Index is a subset of the MSCI World Islamic Index and is made up of large- and mid-cap stocks across 23 Developed Markets countries that comply with Shariah investment principles. The Index applies values- and climate-based exclusionary criteria and excludes stocks with exposure to controversial and nuclear weapons, civilian firearms, tobacco, thermal coal power, thermal coal mining, unconventional oil and gas extraction, Arctic oil and gas, palm oil, recreational cannabis and activities breaching the United Nations Global Compact principles. It also excludes stocks with the weakest ESG profiles, incorporates an ESG re-weighting factor and re-weights stocks according to their current and trend ESG ratings. The Index is rebalanced on a semi-annual basis. The Fund is passively managed and may use representative sampling or other Shariah-compliant investments, including depositary receipts, when it cannot invest directly in all Index constituents. Income is reinvested.
