Login methods and protections

What options do I have to log in?

You can log in with your email/phone number and password, but we also have other login options.

From the log in page, you will see the option to switch between regular logging in with email and logging in with your phone number.

QR code (web only)

If you’ve previously logged in to your account via web, the next time you log in we will recognise your account and show you a QR code to scan for access.

You can scan this QR code using your device’s camera app or the built-in camera in the Lightyear app which will take you to the app to confirm your login. To find the built-in camera in the Lightyear app, click your profile icon > Settings > Scan web QR code.

What two-factor authentication options do I have?

Authenticator app

As an additional layer of security, you can set up an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Apple Passwords, and others.

To enable this feature, you will need to:

  1. Select your profile icon (top left in the mobile app, top right in the web).
  2. Select Settings and then Security.
  3. Switch the toggle on under Authenticator App and Enter your password.
  4. Manually enter the code in your authenticator app, and select Continue.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code shown in the authenticator app to successfully set it up.

To disable this feature, you will need to:

  1. Select your profile icon (top left in the mobile app, top right in the web).
  2. Select Settings and then Security.
  3. Switch the toggle off under Authenticator App and enter the 6-digit code shown in the authenticator app to successfully remove it.

Text message

By default, you will receive a verification code via SMS to your registered phone number every time you try to log in. If you have a new phone number, you will need to email our Support team to update it first. See I want to change my details.

To enable or disable this feature, you will need to:

  1. Select your profile icon (top left in the mobile app, top right in the web).
  2. Select Settings and then Security.
  3. Switch the toggle on or off under SMS/Text message.
