Lightyear Accessibility Statement

Lightyear is committed to making its services accessible and usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. As part of this commitment, Lightyear works to comply with the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882), applicable local legislation and relevant accessibility standards. These requirements aim to ensure that digital financial services can be used by people with a wide range of abilities.

Conformance Status

Lightyear is actively working to ensure its website and web and mobile applications conform to the technical standard EN 301 549 v.3.2.1 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. The Lightyear website and web and mobile applications are currently partially compliant with these technical standards.

Our approach to accessibility

Lightyear seeks to facilitate the use of its services by people with disabilities by:

  • Providing information through multiple formats and channels, including our website, mobile applications, and customer communications.

  • Presenting information in ways that are clear, understandable, and perceivable to users.

  • Ensuring information is available in text formats that can be used with assistive technologies, such as screen readers.

  • Designing interfaces with sufficient colour contrast, readable typography, and scalable text where supported by device accessibility settings.

  • Providing alternative text for non-text content where appropriate.

  • Designing our services so they are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust, following recognised accessibility principles.

Accessible services

Lightyear provides its investment services through the following platforms:

  • The Lightyear mobile application

  • The Lightyear web application

  • The Lightyear website

These services are designed to work with device-level accessibility features, including screen readers, text scaling, and system accessibility settings provided by operating systems such as iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.

Lightyear also provides a colour-blindness mode within the mobile application to support users with common types of colour vision deficiency and improve colour contrast across the interface.

Known Limitations and Ongoing Improvements

While Lightyear is committed to universal accessibility, we recognize that our services currently have certain limitations. We are actively working to address these known areas for improvement:

  • Product Information Gaps: Our product information and instructions for use currently do not fully detail compatibility with assistive technologies or the specific accessibility features included and how to use them.
  • Voice Control and Extensive Voiceover Support: We do not have integrated, extensive voice control features. While our services are generally compatible with external, device-level accessibility features (including voice controls), we aim to explore deeper research and scoping for greater native voice compatibility.
  • Alternate Text for Images: We aim to ensure all non-text content, such as images, has appropriate alternate text to convey meaning for users of screen readers, but there is room for enhancement, particularly with images used in social media and in email visuals.
  • Sufficient Colour Contrast on Landing Pages: Some design elements on our non-logged-in pages (e.g., website landing pages) may not fully meet the WCAG AA colour contrast guidelines, and the option to adjust colour contrast for non-logged-in users is not available.
  • Feature Parity: Not all information available on our website is currently available on the mobile application, and vice versa. Continuous improvement to bring feature parity between platforms is a priority.
  • Plain Language Assurance: While we review our content for clarity and simplicity, we do not currently get external assurance to confirm compliance with best practices for limited cognition, language, or learning.

This statement was prepared following a self-assessment. In accordance with applicable legislation, we are progressively optimising our existing service features to meet all updated accessibility requirements within the permitted statutory timeframe.
