The investment objective of the Fund is to provide investors with a total return, taking into account both capital and income returns, which reflects, before fees and expenses, the return of the Fidelity US Quality Income Index. The Fund uses an index-tracking investment approach to track the performance of the Index as closely as possible, regardless of whether the Index rises or falls, while seeking to minimise the tracking error. The Index is designed to reflect the performance of stocks of large- and mid-capitalisation US companies that exhibit quality fundamental characteristics and pay dividends. It applies ESG screens and integrates ESG ratings into its construction methodology, with at least 50% of constituents deemed to maintain desirable ESG characteristics. The Index also screens constituents according to fundamental measures and applies ESG exclusionary criteria based on norm-based screening and negative screening of certain sectors, companies or practices. The Fund generally seeks to replicate the Index by holding its securities in proportions similar to their Index weightings, although it may use derivatives for efficient portfolio management and currency hedging purposes.
