While we’ve added the most popular instruments to our platform, we won’t stop here and are always adding new ones to our list, so hang in there a little while longer while we work on improving our selection. We’re constantly looking at new instruments to add, but feel free to give us your recommendations as well – you can request directly in the mobile app or web platform:
- Write the name/ticker in the search bar
- Select the button to make a request
What happens after I request an instrument?
Our dedicated team goes through customer feedback periodically and, when possible, makes these instruments available. Adding a new one to the platform depends on several factors, and once a decision has been made to add it, the process may still take several weeks. Some things we look at are:
- Is it traded in a currency and on an exchange we have available. See List of Execution Venues and Brokers
- Is it a type of instrument that we offer
- How good is its execution quality, and what's its market capitalisation
- Can our brokerage partner offer it
- How high is the demand amongst our customers
- Additionally, each instrument must undergo a complexity assessment in accordance with relevant regulations
We really appreciate your feedback and always do our best to add the instruments you want to trade on Lightyear. We put a lot of thought into what's in our instrument universe, as we want to make sure we’re offering a high-quality selection. That said, what we can make available depends on what our broker partners can provide, compliance requirements that must be met, and our own internal standards.
What type of instruments are you not able to add?
Currently, we can’t offer:
- ETFs that are listed on a US exchange. Read more in Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs)
- Some REITs
- Contract for Difference (CFD)
- Complex and structured instruments
- Instruments not traded on exchanges we offer
How long does it take to review my request?
We usually review requests every quarter, so it may take a few months. Not every requested instrument can be added. It depends on the factors listed above, so we can't guarantee that a request will lead to the instrument being available on Lightyear.
How will I know if my requested instrument has been added?
When an instrument you requested becomes available to trade, we'll let you know. We notify you once, when the instrument first becomes available on Lightyear. We send a weekly update on Mondays, but only if at least one of your requests was added that week.
If you use the mobile app:
- Email and push notification: you'll get a weekly email and push notification listing the instruments you requested that were added.
- In-app card: in the Portfolio tab, you'll also see a card to view the newly added instruments, so you can find them even if you missed the email or notification.
- "Requested instruments" collection: this collection in the Explore tab shows every instrument you requested in the past 12 months that is now available to trade. It appears once at least one of your requests has been added.
- You can also check the “New stocks” and “New ETFs” collections in the Explore tab to see all recent additions.
If you use the web platform:
- Email: you'll get a weekly email listing the instruments you requested that were added.
- To find whether an instrument has been added, you can also search for its name or ticker. Additionally, you can browse our Stock Screener, Fund screener, Bond screener, and Crypto screener.
