How Savings works
Savings for USD and GBP works the same way as it does for euros. Your money is invested into a Money Market Fund (MMF) managed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management. The interest tracks its respective central bank rate trends: the Bank of England base rate for GBP, and the US Federal Reserve rate for USD.
Each currency runs through a dedicated J.P. Morgan fund: the JPMorgan GBP Liquidity LVNAV Select fund for pounds, and the JPMorgan USD Liquidity LVNAV Select fund for dollars.
Like the euro fund, both are AAA-rated and sit at a risk level of 1/7 on the SRRI (Synthetic Risk and Reward Indicator). For comparison, a government bond typically sits at 3/7, and a global stock index fund at around 6/7.
Savings replaces cash interest on USD and GBP
As with euros, Savings replaces interest on uninvested cash for USD and GBP. Rather than earning interest directly on uninvested dollar or pound balances, your money now earns a higher yield through the relevant J.P. Morgan Money Market Fund. To start earning, simply move your dollars or pounds to your Savings balance.
Keep in mind that as Savings is an investment product, tax requirements will differ compared to interest on uninvested cash. If you have questions about your tax situation, we recommend getting in touch with a qualified adviser.

For personal and business investments
Savings can be useful whether you're investing personally or managing cash for a business. For individuals, it's a straightforward way to keep your dollars or pounds working while you decide what to do with them next.
For businesses, Money Market Funds are a well-established treasury management tool. Idle cash sitting in a current account between payroll runs, vendor payments or reinvestment earns close to nothing. Lightyear Business accounts give you access to the same low-risk, highly liquid MMF structure, with transparent fees. Learn more about MMFs for your business.
