Today, we’re excited to launch 35 new local stocks and give Spanish Investors access to BlackRock Money Market Funds for our Spanish users to diversify their portfolios.
We’ve connected with the Madrid Stock Exchange to launch a great selection of your local favourites, specifically the IBEX 35. New listed instruments include the likes of Caixabank, Telefonica, Banco Santander, Melia hotels and Repsol. While these stocks are some of Spain’s biggest exports and local favourites, they are also globally recognised brands; Telefonica is a parent company for Movistar and O2, some of Europe's biggest network providers for mobile phones and Inditex (Spain’s largest stock by market cap) owns 8 global home and clothing brands including Zara, Bershka and Massimo Dutti.
This way, our Spanish users can invest locally as well as internationally - as of now we have 3,500 stocks and ETFs, and we’re constantly adding more!
But, it doesn’t end there. With very fragmented interest offers for Spanish retail investors, oftentimes restricted to time limits or capped at certain amounts, we want to give Spanish users access to BlackRock MMFs in addition to our interest offer on uninvested cash.
So there you have it! Our mission hasn’t changed, and we’re bringing it to Spain: giving Europeans better access to simple and transparent investments at an international (and local) level.
In typical Lightyear fashion, we are always keen to hear from you if you’d like us to add any specific stocks or have general feedback.
Remember: when you invest, your capital is at risk. Seek guidance if necessary.
