While we’ve added the most popular instruments to our platform, we won’t stop here and are always adding new ones to our list, so hang in there a little while longer while we work on improving our selection. We’re constantly looking at new securities to add, but feel free to give us your recommendations as well – you can request directly in the mobile app or web platform:
- Write the name/ticker in the search bar
- Select the button to make a request
What happens after I request an instrument?
Our dedicated team goes through customer feedback periodically and, when possible, makes these instruments available. Adding a new one to the platform depends on several factors, and once a decision has been made to add it, the process may still take several weeks. Some things we look at are:
- Is it traded in a currency and on an exchange we have available
- Is it a type of instrument that we offer
- How good is its execution quality, and what's its market capitalisation
- Can our brokerage partner offer it
- How high is the demand amongst our customers
- Additionally, each instrument must undergo a complexity assessment in accordance with relevant regulations
We really appreciate your feedback and always do our best to add the securities you want to trade on Lightyear. That said, what we can make available depends on what our broker partners can provide, compliance requirements that must be met, and our own internal standards. We put a lot of thought into what's in our instrument universe, as we want to make sure we’re offering a high-quality selection!
What type of instruments are you not able to add?
Currently, we can’t offer:
- ETFs that are listed on a US exchange. Read more in Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs)
- Some REITs
- Crypto
- Contract for Difference (CFD)
- Complex and structured instruments
- Instruments not traded on exchanges we offer
How long does it take to review my request?
These reviews are typically done quarterly, so it’s best to estimate that it may take a few months. At this time, there is no way to let you know if we’ve added what you suggested or whether we can’t currently add it. We have plans to improve the request feature in the future, but for now:
- Use the search function in the app to see if your instrument has been added, or check our stock screener and fund screener
- Keep an eye on "New stocks" and "New ETFs" collections in the Explore tab
- Make sure you're subscribed to our newsletters in your settings because we’ll occasionally send one out when we add some of the most requested instruments
