It pays a fixed annual coupon of 0.5% of nominal value, paid in semi-annual instalments on 22 April and 22 October each year. The gilt was first issued on 20 May 2020 and will be repaid at par (100% of nominal) on its maturity date of 22 October 2061. As a direct obligation of the UK government, it is regarded as one of the lowest-risk sterling fixed-income investments. Its market price fluctuates with interest rates and time to maturity, and returns are not guaranteed if sold before maturity.
